The stars we've lost so far in 2022
From some of the most iconic actors to music legends, sports personalities, fashion designers, and more, in this gallery, we remember and pay tribute to the famous faces who have passed away so far in 2022. The most recent is actress and activist Sacheen Littlefeather, who famously delivered a 60-second speech protesting Native American mistreatment on behalf of Marlon Brando as he declined the Oscar for 'The Godfather' at the 1973 Academy Awards. Littlefeather died October 2, at the age of 75, after suffering from breast cancer, the Academy of Motion Pictures said. In June, the Academy had apologized to Littlefeather for her undue harassment at the Oscars that night nearly 50 years prior, and they invited her for an in-person apology at the Academy Museum on September 17. She will be remembered for so much more, however, including co-founding the American Indian AIDS Institute of San Francisco and ending the media blackout around the Wounded Knee occupation. Now, click on to remember the other famous figures we have lost so far in 2022.
Celebs you didn't realize were amputees
Amputation, which refers to the removal of a limb by trauma, medical illness, or surgery, is more common than you might think. In the US alone, there are around 185,000 cases per year, and it is estimated that there will be around 3.6 million amputees in the country by 2050. Indeed, amputation by surgery is often used to control pain, or to control or prevent disease. And it might surprise you to learn that there are a number of celebrities who have lost one or more limbs, often as part of a surgical procedure. Check out this gallery to find out which famous figures are amputees.
The most unexpected celebrity couples of recent times
There's been a change in the wind in Hollywood, and celebrities we thought we had figured out are now crossing aesthetics, genres, interests, and generations to surprise us with A-list combinations that sound like they were randomly plucked out of a hat. Some of these unlikely celebrity romances might be a reflection of the completely unpredictable times we're living in, where life and death situations have become fearfully closer, and thus where people are no longer wasting time with preconceived notions and anything other than what makes them feel good. These celebrities are embracing love where they find it, whether that means taking a romantic chance on an old best friend or going on a date with someone completely out of their normal sphere. Dua Lipa and Trevor Noah appear to be reaching outside of their fields of fame as the singer and 'The Daily Show' host were spotted on a night out together in NYC. The pair, 27 and 38 respectively, reportedly dined at Miss Lily's, a Caribbean restaurant in the East Village, and were later spotted taking a stroll before they embraced in a goodbye kiss and hug, according to E! News. Click through to see the most unexpected relationships of the past couple years.
